ATOM Token
The native token of the network is called ATOM. Holding ATOM gives the users the ability to stake and validate blocks, vote on governance issues, and pay for the fees. The initial Cosmos tokens were created when the mainnet launched and were distributed to initial donors, token sale participants, and the core developers. New coins are generated as rewards for the network validators.
ATOMs can be traded on major exchanges like Kraken, Binance, and Poloniex so you can receive them through staking directly as a validator or indirectly as a delegator. If you are looking to buy ATOM you can do it via Binance. Make sure to create a Binance account and sign in. Navigate to the spot wallet and deposit the crypto that you want to trade for ATOM. As of the time of writing, Binance supports trades against Binance USD, Binance Coin, Tether, USD Coin, and Bitcoin.
Once selected, load your account with this crypto and wait for it to confirm. If you choose for example USDT to trade for ATOM, head to the ATOM/USDT trading page and on the bottom, you will see the order pannel. Once you locate it, select the “Market Option” and enter the amount that you want to spend the coin by clicking on the Buy button when you are ready to execute the order at the best price available. Then, your coins will be available in your wallet to check upon.
